Many companies are looking to the future of higher and higher video resolutions. 6k is not only on it's way but it's available now, if you can afford it.

RED's Red Dragon shoots "9x more pixels than HD" and can shoot up to 100 frames per second at 6k! It offers DSLR photo quality in each video frame.

Right now the camera brain alone starts at around $30,000 and kits sell for around $50,000

Panasonic 6k Camera

Rumor has it that Panasonic will be releasing an affordable, prosumer 6k camera very soon!

It may not be in the same league as the RED but it's supposed to shoot 30 fps at 6k and 60 fps at 4k.

Let's hope Canon, Nikon and Sony will also be releasing their own 6k resolution cameras soon, not that there's anything wrong with 4k, at all.

I can remember when HD (1920 x 1080) was a huge improvement so just the idea of 6k (6144 x 3160) resolution is pretty amazing.

Oh and this was the camcorder I started shooting video with as a kid... not even 1k, hah!
